Mindy & Tom: A Fall Engagement Shoot

A stunning sun filled early Fall engagement shoot...

Like most clients, I could tell Mindy & Tom were a little uneasy when they got out of the car to start their engagement shoot at the Everhart Museum. They were dressed to kill but like most people, I think they were a little concerned about how the next 2-3 hours of my pointing a camera at them were going to go and rightfully so. At least on a wedding day, you have hours and hours of events and activities to keep you occupied & distracted from the camera on you but an engagement session is different. You are here strictly for photos. There's no reception or ceremony or tons of friends/family around to get your mind off of the camera several feet away. Trying to appear natural and unposed as much as possible is a scary thing if you don't have the right photographer. A few photographers can bring this out in people and know the process. Many simply can't. After I gave them my secret "warm-up" speech about how to kill it in your photos and make things look natural, I like to think it worked. Mindy & Tom agreed and they were amazed how quickly things moved along after we got warmed up. The best part is, their wedding day photos will now be a walk in the park (no pun intended) with the camera on them all day. That and of course their bringing me a 3rd glass for their champagne picnic toast - also a best part. ;-) Cheers! -Steve stevensergephoto@gmail.com
