Shopping for your wedding photography...

It's that time of year again. Busy booking season for 2018 (and even some 2019 dates starting to trickle in) and I am reminded to explain some math about value and what you are paying for when hiring a wedding photographer to our future Steven Serge Wedding clients:

10 Hour Day

5 Hour Wedding Reception

Picture (no pun intended) your reception. Beautiful uplighting on the walls, romantic candles every where, maybe it's at a venue in downtown Scranton with NO WINDOWS like the Cultural Center or Radisson or Hilton? Even the barn venues these day. There is NO NATURAL LIGHT in this scenario.

So why are you shopping "Natural Light" Photographers to photograph your wedding when half of it will not have "Natural Light" available? Natural light photography is of course beautiful and applies to all weddings for some aspect but a majority, if not half requires INDOOR photography skills. Get ready photos,  dances with parents, first dances for bride/groom, maid of Honor/Best Man speeches, bouquet tosses and all the fun and hilarity that ensues once the party gets going.

If you are going to pay for photography services, hire a WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER that is consistent throughout your day. From 10AM to 10PM (when it's DARK OUT).

Next time you peruse some photographer's sites, don't just get caught up in the pretty "OUT IN THE FIELD AT 2 IN THE AFTERNOON" photos on a slightly cloudy day. Ask to see photos in harsh sun. Ask to see reception photos at 9pm. Ask to see bridal portraits indoors in the event of RAIN. If the quality isn't the same at every hour and every location and every lighting condition shown to you, maybe may have to ask, "Is this the photographer I want capturing my entire day"?

Katie & Kyle: Susquehanna Farm Engagement

Some facts about this shoot:

I love clients who are excited about having their photos taken.

I love clients who trust me to help them get comfortable in front of a camera and look their best naturally.

The Farm at Cottrell Lake is one of the most beautiful Barn wedding venues in our area.

All of the above adds up to what you see below.
